Job Description:

Kershner Trading Group is a leading proprietary trading and technology firm, headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in midtown Manhattan, NY and Chicago, IL.  We currently have openings in our Austin, Texas headquarters for developers to expand the company’s quantitative trading system, CloudQuant.

As a technical lead and integral part of our product development team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and extending our CloudQuant platform. This product is unique in that it allows quantitative traders to develop trading strategies from anywhere in the world and trade with us.  You will collaborate with other developers focused on this product and the entire platform, but will be the point person for ensuring its long-term quality and technical success. You’ll work in our Austin, TX office, collaborating with a set of awesome peers that cut across product, design, development, subject matter experts, and marketing among others.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering team  to translate high-level business objectives, functional and nonfunctional requirements into designs and code forming a consistent, coherent, scalable, and secure platform components.
  • Avoid technical debt by contributing to and implementing the absolute best expression of our design specifications, making any appropriate tradeoffs along the way.
  • Deeply understand and own the deployment and code-level operations of CloudQuant, and take a keen interest in its performance from a development perspective, working with our Operations team.
  • Act as a key member and regularly participate and interact as part of a cross-functional product development team including working with existing and potential customers.
  • Working with members of the design team and other product teams, participate in product development team analysis and collaborative feature design sessions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members.

Requirements and Position Qualifications

  • Strong Python and Linux experience; working knowledge of C++, .Net a plus
  • Programming experience in Python-based data science tools
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud environments
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable web applications
  • Extensive experience with python web framework. e.g. Flask
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience with asynchronous design and queueing patterns and tools
  • At least 5 years of experience focused on building commercial enterprise web applications deployed either as packaged or SaaS software, with a total of at least 8 years of overall web application development
  • Familiarity using code quality tools, continuous integration, automation, and various best practices to ensure high quality in the long-term
  • Experience with key DevOps tools, processes, and practices
  • Strong team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be based in the Austin, TX area or willing to relocate
  • Knowledge of equity trading and associated technologies
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Knowledge working on real-time distributed systems
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies

A range of experience levels will be considered for these positions.  Salary is commensurate to experience level.
